Rev. Jeff Thormodson has dedicated over 22 years to culture crossing ministry, beginning in Russia as an evangelical missionary, then mentoring immigrants to the US in pastoral practice.  He is the Director of Concordia Seminary’s MissionShift Institute, the Assistant Director of Vicarage and Internship, and liaison for their Central Asian Lutheran Seminary program in Kyrgyzstan.  In addition, he currently serves as the Executive Director for the Lutheran Society For Missiology, Board member for the Association of Lutheran Mission Agencies, the Center of US Missions, and a member of the North American Mission Endeavor.  He has spoken nationally on the topic of Missions, and publishes several articles. 

Thormodson education began at Concordia University, St. Paul, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Communication and minoring in Family Studies (1991), then at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, where he earned a Masters of Divinity (1995), and a Masters of Sacred Theology (2011).  His first call out of seminary was as an evangelical missionary in Russia planting, where he served as the founding Director of the Novosibirsk Christian Mission – Evangelical Lutheran Mission, an organization that collaborated with local leaders raising up 17 congregations and several humanitarian aid ministries across Siberia after the fall of the Soviet Union. 

Upon returning from Russia, he worked with over 800 seminary students assigned throughout the United States organize outreach efforts from inside their congregations to the surrounding community.  His responsibilities also included visiting and advising over 70 cross cultural ministry sites throughout the U.S. where first generation immigrants who were enrolled pastoral training at Concordia Seminary, and leading immigrant congregations.  Rev. Thormodson this wealth of culture crossing experience to ADC, along with five years of training Christians in the St. Louis region to lead and build culture crossing ministries.  His primary goal is to help successfully launch ADC in the St. Louis region, and then get out of the way when it takes off…
